At 2:17 a.m., every light in the Blue Comet Diner went out—except the jukebox, which had never worked.
Something bright crossed the desert without touching the road. It stopped at the counter, warmed a forgotten slice of pie, and left a perfect blue ring on the chrome.
When the power returned, the night’s last bill was stamped PAID. Nobody saw a wallet. Nobody heard a word.
